Along came a spider...
80 millimeters of rain. It washed out roads and flooded intersections. It boosted Starbuck’s sales because no one could get to Tim Hortons. The spider’s web outside my window – massive though it was – didn’t stand a chance.
Gradually, the rain slowed and then came to a stop. The sun came out and the storm drains stooped their gurglings. The spider – slowly , cautiously - remerged from a crack she had taken shelter in. She lowered herself down and surveyed the damage. No trace of her web remained.
Painstakingly, she began spinning a new web – rebuilding. What else could she do?
